Park Village Hotel and Resort

Park Village Hotel and Resort

Park Village Hotel and Resort is a verdant oasis set in five acres of tranquil, wooded gardens overlooking the hustle and bustle of central Kathmandu.

More than two thousand flowering trees and shrubs cover the grounds and are home to butterflies, dragonflies and nearly 75 species of birds including hoopoes, heron and kingfisher.

Park Village is located at the northern edge of the Kathmandu Valley, just below the subtropical Shivapuri-Nagarjun National Park, less than half an hour’s drive from central Kathmandu or the airport.

The fresh, natural environment coupled with comfortable, well-appointed accommodation, good food, and a lovely outdoor swimming pool make it the perfect place to relax either on arrival in Nepal or at the end of your trek or tour.

Activities & attractions

There is no shortage of things to see and do within a short distance of Park Village Resort.

Culture and religion
The beautiful Sleeping Vishnu Shrine is just a three-minute walk away. It’s a huge and beautifully artistic recumbent figure of Vishnu carved out of a monolith of black rock. The lesser-known ISCKON Hare Krishna temple is reached within ten-minute’s walk.
There are several monasteries not to far away too and we can also arrange a vehicle to take you there, or point you in the right direction. A Vipasana Meditation Centre is also located nearby near the gate to the Shivapuri National Park, which is probably one of the most peaceful spots in the valley. There are many smaller. The area is steeped in history with fascinating folklore and legend.

Hikes and walks
The Shivapuri National Park forms the northern part of the Kathmandu Valley rim. It is a wonderful subtropical jungle with easy-to-follow trails leading you to some very special places.

The walk to Nagi Gomba, a nuns’ monastery, is well worthwhile. It is just a few kilometres from the park gate above Budhanilkantha and offers a peaceful place to take in the views over the Kathmandu Valley.

For the more energetic, a beautiful trail leads to the summit of Shivapuri via the Bhagdwar, which is the source of the holy Bagmati River. There at the source you will meet Toka Baba, the holy follower of Lord Shiva who meditates here at the small temple. The summit is another 20 minutes hike from here and you can descend directly to the park gate from here via a viewpoint where, through the trees, you can see the beautiful white peaks of Langtang, Ganesh Himal and Manaslu.

It’s a good, rewarding day’s walk and well worth the effort.

There are several other shorter local walks that can be done around the village of Budhanilkantha and surroundings. Ask for recommendations at reception or let us book a local guide for you.

Birdwatching
At Park Village, birdwatching is something you can do from the window of your room! However, if you wish to stray into the nearby forest with some of Nepal’s most knowledgeable bird experts, just ask us and we can arrange a guided birdwatching walk for you.

Yoga
Park village regularly home for the Yogi Nomad’s professional yoga teacher training course. Morning or evening classes can be arranged according to demand. Please enquire with us in advance.

Mountain biking
Every morning scores of mountain bikers throng to the northern reaches of the valley to ride the narrow trails through the fields and historic villages. It’s excellent biking terrain. If you are a mountain biker, we can help get you onto the excellent trails. If you simply like cycling, we can also help you plan a pleasant ride that avoids too many hills and takes in a mix of nature and culture.
