TRIP OVERVIEW

Paragliding in Pokhara is one of the most highly sought out adventure sports activities in Nepal. Fly near the clouds over the captivating lakes surrounded by fascinating mountain views around Pokhara. Introduced in Nepal in 1995, paragliding has today become one of the most popular adventure sports in Nepal. Whether you are a novice to the world of paragliding or an expert, flying near the towering Himalayas can absolutely prove to be an adventure of a lifetime, where you can rejoice in the moment like nowhere else on earth. You can either take a solo flight if you are experienced and confident enough. Alternatively, you can also fly tandem with a certified pilot, who will control the flight while you enjoy your journey on the skies.

Pokhara is the most popular paragliding hub in Nepal. The scintillating flight from the viewpoint of Sarangkot begins with a 30-minutes jeep ride from Pokhara to the launch site located 2,000ft above Lakeside. Before the tandem flight, you will receive an on-site orientation from a certified pilot about the flight procedure. The pilot will then adjust a harness seat to your body size and check the straps for safety purpose. The launch of the flight takes place from a steep hill. During the launch, you will need to take a few steps along with the pilot before being lifting off from the ground. After 30-45 minutes of the adventure, the glider finally lands at Lakeside.

When Paragliding in Pokhara, gliders get a mesmerizing view of the Phewa lake and the Sarangkot Hill, as well as the surrounding mountains. The service operates under international safety guidelines and thus is very safe for any healthy person. To ensure an extra layer of safety, you can glide with a skilled instructor who holds a valid international license for Paragliding.

The glider moves above the Phewa lake and the beautiful Pokhara city, giving an amazing up-close view of Machhapuchare and other mountains. Following the most advanced international safety standards the paragliding operations are run by local and international gliding experts. Flying high and up close near the towering mountains, Paragliding in Pokhara offers gliders an amazing combination of scenic views and adrenaline rush that can’t be found anywhere else.

TANDEM FLIGHTS

Tandem flying involves a pilot flying with a passenger. Both of them have separate harnesses that are attached to each other and the wing. Paragliding harnesses are comfortable and safe, once in the sky they feel more like an armchair.

After take-off the passenger just sits back, relaxes and enjoys the epic scenery. Even taking pictures is not a problem.

We take a 20 min jeep ride from Pokhara up hill to Sarangkot viewpoint which is 2000ft above Lakeside. This is where we begin the unforgettable adventure. From here we can see three of the highest mountains in the world. Dhaulagiri,  Annapurna, and Manaslu (all over 8000m). We offer 3 types of tandem flights from here.

CLOUD BUSTER

We take off from Sarangkot and above the valley, along pristine ridges of trees, over villages and often hear shouts from below as people stare with wonder at these colourful bird-men circling above them. We end the flight with a glide over the lake, and return by jeep to our main office in Lakeside.

Safety Paragliding is perhaps often viewed as a higher-risk sport than it actually is. Nonetheless, there is great potential for injury for the reckless or ill-prepared. The safety of the sport is directly proportional to the skill and sense of the pilot. It’s important to note that almost all paragliding accidents are the result of pilot error. Paragliding equipment is very well built and, if properly cared for, will never fail. As an example, the average paraglider has around 30 lines connected to the risers, yet each one is strong enough to support the full weight of a pilot individually. Aerodynamically, newer paragliders that are not within advanced or competition categories are rated for safety and will tend to recover from most incidents on their own (without pilot intervention). Given that equipment failure of properly certified paragliding equipment can be considered a non-issue, it is accurate to say that paragliding can be a very safe sport. The individual pilot is the ultimate indicator of his or her personal safety level.

In general The safe pilot will not fly at sites that pose an unreasonable challenge to his/her flying skills. – The safe pilot will not be influenced by the possibly negative examples set by others. – The safe pilot will only fly on days in which the weather is conducive to safe flight. Turbulence in all its forms is enemy #1 for a flying paraglider wing. Because paragliders have no solid support, their shape (and ability to fly) can be ruined by an errant down draft or the like. Therefore, turbulence or conditions conducive to turbulence generation is a primary factor in determining whether the weather is safe.
