Tengboche trekking has been one of the most loved trekking trails for tourists who make their trip to Everest region, especially for those who love to explore the Buddhism and its hidden treasures of its followers. When one visits to Tengboche monastery, one gets not only the clear picture of the Buddhist religion but vanishes into a peace.

Generally, people visit to this isolated and solitary to get released from the stressed mind, as the monks in the monastery practice a kind of meditation everyday of their life. The hospitality of the people living around the monastery enchants in such a way that they come again and again and build warmhearted memories of Nepal throughout their life.

The trek to the Tengboche begins with 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, then the trek takes to the beautiful valley called DudhKoshi valley and then to Namche bazaar, the most visited town in the region. Subsequently, you continue your trek to the beautiful Tengboche monastery, the place surrounded by Himalayan forests, considered the sacred and well-off in wildlife. Amidst breathtaking panoramas of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, AmaDablam and other peaks around, then you return to Namche and finally to Lukla. The Tengboche trek is a fascinating trip, as there lie the world’s the highest mountain, the settlement of legendary Sherpa people on its rugged terrain.

Day 1 – Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla Trek from Lukla to Monzo (2,825m/9,268 ft)
Day 2 – Trek from Monzo to Namche Bazar (3,440m/11,286 ft)
Day 3 – Trek from Namche to Tengboche (3,860m/12,664 ft)
Day 4- Trek from Tengboche to Khumjung (2,780m/9,121 ft)
Day 5 – Trek from Khumjung to Monzo (2,825m/9,268 ft)
Day 6- Trek from Monzo to Lukla (2,800m/9,186 ft)
Day 7- Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,345m/4,413 ft)

Detailed itinerary of Tengboche Trek

Day 1 – Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,800m/9,186 ft)-Trek from Lukla to Monzo (2,825m/9,268 ft)
Early in the morning, you will be transferred to the airport in Kathmandu for a scenic 30-minute flight to Lukla. The airport guide will brief you and introduce our porters before we begin our trek.

We head north to join the main trail at Chablung and then alongside the DudhKoshi to Ghat. Pass through Phakding village and follow the trail northwards up the valley to Benkar. Cross the river once more and pass Chomoa, the site of a Japanese agricultural project.

Day 2 – Trek from Monzo to Namche Bazar (3,440m/11,286 ft)
Pass through the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park. From Jorsale, we follow the trail over a spur across the river and begin the climb to Namche Bazaar. From several place along this trail we may be able to get views of Everest.

Day 3 – Trek from Namche to Tengboche (3,860m/12,664 ft)
Climb above the horseshoe shaped bowl in which Namche nestles, to have the first real views of the Himalayan Peaks: Mt. AmaDablam dominates the skyline as we descend once more to the DudhKoshi and have lunch at Phungitenga (3,247m), before ascending to the Tengboche monastery (3,867m). Set on a grassy knoll and completely surrounded by mountains Tengboche can justifiably claim to be one of world’s outstanding beauty spots. To the east are AmaDablam and Khagtega and to the north Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse while on the south Thamserku and West Kongde can be seen. The monastery is well worth a visit.

Day 4 – Trek from Tengboche to Khumjung (2,780m/9,121 ft)
Descend through the forest to DudhKoshi (3,414m) and then ascend to join the trail to Khumjung (3,780m), the largest village in the Khumbu region. There is a monastery here inside which what is reputed to be the Yeti scalp and claw can be viewed on payment of a small fee.

Day 5 – Trek from Khumjung to Monzo (2,825m/9,268 ft)
Opportunity to visit the Everest View Hotel or Khunde Hospital before revisiting Namche Bazar and then descending to our campsite at Monzo.

Day 6 – Trek from Monzo to Lukla (2,800m/9,186 ft)
Retrace our steps from Monzo to Lukla airstrip.

Day 7 – Morning flight back to Kathmandu (1,345m/4,413 ft)
Today we fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla, and during your flight you can enjoy some last-minute glimpses of the mountains. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can rest, relax and go sightseeing throughout the day.
