Namo Buddha Resort-An organic farm resort

 Namo Buddha Resort offers experience of the simple life in the Nepali countryside. We invite you to spend some time close to nature and farmland.

The resort has small and cosy houses are beautifully built in traditional Nepali style by carpenters and masons from Kirtipur (including traditional small doors and windows). All of the houses have private toilet, stone roof and lots of woodwork. The resort is surrounded by an organic farm. Our farmers try to follow the best practice to care for the earth and build a farm that will last for generations. We grow vegetables, grains, flowers and many fruits. We collect milk from our cows and honey from our bees. We also make our own jams. At the moment we grow much of our own food and also purchase food from the local market.

Vegetarian food is one of our major focuses at Namo Buddha Resort. Our wood-fired oven gives us the opportunity to make our own sour dough breads, pizza, and other bakery items. Resort’s kitchen staff makes meals inspired by many European as well as typical Nepali style foods. We serve a fixed dinner menu.Though staff is not formally trained in tourism. That means thier service is probably not the best but they are doing as much as we can.

Namo Buddha Resort is located at the top of a hill (1800 m) and when the weather is clear, guests can see awesome views of the Himalaya. The panoramic view stretches across the Annapurna and Khumbu range. During the main tourist season, views are the best early in the morning.

Some areas surrounding the guests’ houses are farm land and some areas are left to nature. These natural forest areas are beautiful places to walk in.

Namo Buddha Resort offers three sizes of accommodation: small, medium and large. Small houses have toilets but no shower; guests must use our main shower house. Medium and large houses include hot showers.

For group conferences, yoga retreats or other meetings you can reserve Lasho Hall. Lasho Hall has 50 square meters of space, heaters, a digital projector and screen, and wireless internet. Wireless internet is also available for most of the rest of the property

Namo Buddha Resort feels that it is important to support the local economy. Our staff is approximately 80% local. That means many of the staff do not speak English.

The surrounding neighborhood includes Namo Buddha Stupa (half an hour walk). There are also a number of nearby villages and organic farms within walking distance.

Facilities of Namo Buddha Resort

Lasho Hall is our conference hall. It is 50 square meters in size. Lasho Hall is an excellent place for conferences, yoga retreats, seminars or workshops. It is equipped with wireless internet, just like the rest of the resort. A projector and speakers are available upon request.

We have a sauna in the shower house.

The shower house area also has a flotation tank or Samadhi tank. This device was invented by the scientist J.C. Lilly who conducted experiments with it to research the behavior of the mind and brain in the absense of sensoric influences. This is one of the few publicly accessible flotation tanks in Asia. Some people think that a flotation tank provides the deepest meditation. Above the restaurant is a small, mostly German book collection.

Namo Buddha Resort also owns an orgone accumulator (research by Wilhelm Reich) and biomechanical muscle stimulation machine,  researched by Dr. Vladimir Nazarov. Please inquire if you are interested in using either device.

The gardens surrounding the property are wonderful opportunities to learn about local Nepali plants as well as different organic farming techniques and cultivated plants. Resort has a few mountain bikes to ride nearby for guests.

Activities from Namo Buddha Resort

From the resort, many different options are available to explore the local village and surroundings.  People living in the area are mostly Tamang. There are many nice walks that can be started from the resort.

Some nearby suggested walking destinations are,

• Namobuddha stupa.
• Phulbari village.
• Panauti town.
• Thrangu Tashi Yangtze Monastery.
• Dapchha (old local trade route and settlement of newar) – Bhakunde Besi walk.

Kushesshwor mahadev temple (Dumja) can be driven to. The Sunkosi River is also an interesting destination. It is a famous Hindu holy site.

Location of Namo Buddha Resort
Resort is situated 45 km south-east of Kathmandu, travelling in a straight line. Travelling by car from Kathmandu takes approximately 2 hours. To reach us from Kathmandu, pass Bhaktapur and Banepa, continuing to Dhulikhel (23 km from central Kathmandu). When you reach Dhulikhel turn right to take the paved Sindhuli-Highway for 8 km to reach the village Kavre Bhanjyang. The village of Kavre Bhanjyang is not visible from the road, only a bus stop on your right. Immediately after the bus stop turn right onto the rough road (“Namo Buddha Road”). Continue on this road for 4.8 km to reach our hill. The entrance road to Namo Buddha Resort will be on your left.

Accommodation of Namo Buddha Resort
It has 6 small houses, 4 medium houses and 2 large houses. This gives us room for a total of approximately 30 guests.

All houses have electric heaters, wireless internet, lots of windows and beautiful woodwork.
