Everest View Trek is all about the Everest panorama. During trek, we will visit  Tengboche Gumba which is situated at 3,867 m and is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region of Nepal. From here, the panoramic views of the Himalayas of Nepal including Tawache, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Everest are ours to admire.

The Everest View Trek features a wide range of panoramic mountain scenery of Nepal combined with unique cultural encounters with the Sherpa people and their rich culture which is closely tied to Buddhism. This trek is ideal for anyone who wishes to enjoy the surreal beauty of the Nepalese Himalayas and Everest in particular while also enjoying an easy trek.

Day 01: Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m/8,700ft): 3 – 4 hours trek

During the 40-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (9,186ft), we enjoy one of the most beautiful air routes in the world culminating on a hillside surrounded by high mountainous peaks. At Lukla, a gateway destination from where our trek begins, we meet our other crew members and begin packing and arranging with them. From Lukla, we start trekking. At one hour’s gradual descent, we will be at a Cheplung village from where we have a glimpse of Mt. Khumbila (18900 ft), a sacred mountain which has never been climbed. From Cheplung, we then gradually descend until we reach Phakding and spend the night.

Day 02: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m/11,280 ft): 5 – 6 hours

Walking through a beautiful pine forest, we follow the trail north up the valley of Benkar. We then cross Dudh Koshi River and go on passing Chumoa to Monjo, the entrance to Everest National Park. Then after crossing a suspension bridge, we pass Jorsale village and walk alongside of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. A steep ascent brings us to the prime heartland of Sherpa village – Namche Bazaar. At one hour’s distance to reaching Namche Bazaar, if the weather permits, we can view the sights of Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse.  Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 03: Acclimatization Day – Namche Bazaar: (3,440m/11,284ft)

There are plenty of things to do around Namche Bazaar, and we can spend a day here acclimatizing. Namche Bazaar is the main centre of the Khumbu region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, and a colorful market. Our guides can take us to explore the real charm of Namche Bazaar. Hiking to Sagarmatha National Park rewards trekkers with a sunrise view and the views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde and so on. If we are interested in a day hike, we trek to Khumjung village (12401 ft)-a beautiful village with a Sherpa settlement. In exploring Namche Bazar, we observe traditional Sherpa life, Khumjung Hillary School, and enjoy flora and fauna found at such a high altitude. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 04: Namche Bazaar to Khumjung (3,810 m/12500 ft): 4 hours

Today’s journey starts with a climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche. Just above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel from where we can enjoy an up-close view of the mighty Everest. We continue trekking to Khumjung village which is surrounded by Kondge, Thamserku and the sacred Khumbila mountains. While here, we visit the Edmund Hillary School and Khumjung Monastery (a monastery famous for housing the head of the Yeti!). Overnight in Khumjung.

Day 05: Khumjung to Tengboche (3,870m/12694ft): 4 – 5 hours

We descend to Dudhkoshi River and pass through beautiful villages on the way. We walk on a forest trail which will take us to a riverbed. Next, we ascend for around two more hours through pine and fir forests to reach a small village of Tengboche. The village is also home to the famous Tengboche Gumba which is situated at 3,867 m and is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region of Nepal. We tour the Gumba and enjoy a panoramic view of the Himalayas, including Tawache, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Everest. Overnight in Tengboche.

Day 06: Tengboche to Kyangjuma (3,570m/11,710ft): 4 – 5 hours

From Tengboche, a steep descent of about 1500ft/500m will take us through rhododendron bushes and fir trees to the Dudh Koshi River. We continue on our trail and pass Tashinga and Sansa villages before reaching Kyangjuma. While here, we get to appreciate spectacular views of Ama-dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest.  Overnight in Kyangjuma.

Day 07: Kyangjuma to Monjo (2,840m/9,315ft): 4 – 5 hours

We have to reach Namche Bazaar first then continue to Monjo. The trail clings to the steep wooded slope beyond Kyangjuma, winding through several bends. We keep an eye for wildlife such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, etc. when passing through a forest trail. A steep descent takes us to a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. We cross the river twice at separate locations before reaching Monjo.

Day 08: Monjo to Lukla: 5- 6 hours

The trail descends steeply before it cuts up to the airstrip in Chauri Kharka. On the way we pass Phakding and Chopling villages. The climb from Chauri Kharka is the final climb of the trek. As the local staff you met in Lukla will not be accompanying you to Kathmandu, today is last day you celebrate your accomplishment together. Overnight in Lukla.

Tengboche trekking has been one of the most loved trekking trails for tourists who make their trip to Everest region, especially for those who love to explore the Buddhism and its hidden treasures of its followers. When one visits to Tengboche monastery, one gets not only the clear picture of the Buddhist religion but vanishes into a peace.

Generally, people visit to this isolated and solitary to get released from the stressed mind, as the monks in the monastery practice a kind of meditation everyday of their life. The hospitality of the people living around the monastery enchants in such a way that they come again and again and build warmhearted memories of Nepal throughout their life.

The trek to the Tengboche begins with 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, then the trek takes to the beautiful valley called DudhKoshi valley and then to Namche bazaar, the most visited town in the region. Subsequently, you continue your trek to the beautiful Tengboche monastery, the place surrounded by Himalayan forests, considered the sacred and well-off in wildlife. Amidst breathtaking panoramas of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, AmaDablam and other peaks around, then you return to Namche and finally to Lukla. The Tengboche trek is a fascinating trip, as there lie the world’s the highest mountain, the settlement of legendary Sherpa people on its rugged terrain.

Detailed itinerary of Tengboche Trek

Day 1 – Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,800m/9,186 ft)-Trek from Lukla to Monzo (2,825m/9,268 ft)
Early in the morning, you will be transferred to the airport in Kathmandu for a scenic 30-minute flight to Lukla. The airport guide will brief you and introduce our porters before we begin our trek.

We head north to join the main trail at Chablung and then alongside the DudhKoshi to Ghat. Pass through Phakding village and follow the trail northwards up the valley to Benkar. Cross the river once more and pass Chomoa, the site of a Japanese agricultural project.

Day 2 – Trek from Monzo to Namche Bazar (3,440m/11,286 ft)
Pass through the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park. From Jorsale, we follow the trail over a spur across the river and begin the climb to Namche Bazaar. From several place along this trail we may be able to get views of Everest.

Day 3 – Trek from Namche to Tengboche (3,860m/12,664 ft)
Climb above the horseshoe shaped bowl in which Namche nestles, to have the first real views of the Himalayan Peaks: Mt. AmaDablam dominates the skyline as we descend once more to the DudhKoshi and have lunch at Phungitenga (3,247m), before ascending to the Tengboche monastery (3,867m). Set on a grassy knoll and completely surrounded by mountains Tengboche can justifiably claim to be one of world’s outstanding beauty spots. To the east are AmaDablam and Khagtega and to the north Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse while on the south Thamserku and West Kongde can be seen. The monastery is well worth a visit.

Day 4 – Trek from Tengboche to Khumjung (2,780m/9,121 ft)
Descend through the forest to DudhKoshi (3,414m) and then ascend to join the trail to Khumjung (3,780m), the largest village in the Khumbu region. There is a monastery here inside which what is reputed to be the Yeti scalp and claw can be viewed on payment of a small fee.

Day 5 – Trek from Khumjung to Monzo (2,825m/9,268 ft)
Opportunity to visit the Everest View Hotel or Khunde Hospital before revisiting Namche Bazar and then descending to our campsite at Monzo.

Day 6 – Trek from Monzo to Lukla (2,800m/9,186 ft)
Retrace our steps from Monzo to Lukla airstrip.

Day 7 – Morning flight back to Kathmandu (1,345m/4,413 ft)
Today we fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla, and during your flight you can enjoy some last-minute glimpses of the mountains. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can rest, relax and go sightseeing throughout the day.
